| No pressure here folks, but if any of you feel like throwing a couple of quid at this then I'd be really grateful. KGT Charity Bike Ride CLICKY HEREOne of the guys Ive worked with for over 20 yrs was recently diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. He was lucky it was found at all because he hadnt had a company medical in years and wasnt actually feeling unwell. It was quite late in the day and he was touch and go at one point. However he's been one of the lucky ones and managed to pull through. Now he's back to his almost normal pain in the arse acidic self. Suitably recovered and very grateful, he does a lot of work for this charity and subsequently he's persuaded a bunch of us to partake in a 55 mile charity bike ride in aid of Bright Red, who aim to improve the lives and treatment of people in the NE England with blood cancer. The "team" if you can call it that, ranges from relatively fit cyclists like myself to proper lard arsed mars bar munching knuckle dragging social misfits, commonly known as Engineers, who wont be able to sit down for a month after this. And after many years of daily lycra jokes, that pleases me no end Anyway, just thought I'd drop a note in here. Like I said no pressure, but if I dont spread the word its a bit pointless me turning out at all. Cheers

| Lads and Lasses, I cant say thanks enough. When I got into the office this morning there was a group of guys standing around a screen buzzing about a flurry of donations all received last night and nobody recognising any of the names. I took a look for myself and politely informed them that the NESF massive was in the house and as usual is showing its true colours. Ive got to say I was proud as punch - you really are a top bunch of people and I love you all. In recognition of your efforts so far my bike will be sporting an NESF motif and Scooby Doo will be joining me for the journey. If you havent already had a chance to donate, there is still plenty of time | |

| Boys & girls, I just wanted to say a massive thanks to all of you who contributed to the charity event. Running total is around the £1100 mark and the guys at Blood Red are very grateful. For our group it was really the NESF contributions that set the ball rolling as the pot was pretty empty till you turned up. So big thanks from me and the boys. For those of you hoping to hear stories of me falling off.........sorry to disappoint you, but the ride wasnt without incident as I had to complete it on a loaned bike. The "professional" transport company charged with taking our bikes from Newcastle to Seahouses managed to drop mine off the trailer on the way up there. So my £700 Scott Comp road bike is worth about £7 in parts now. Quote of the day "I'm so sorry about that Keith, its funny when you think about it, last year the only bike to get damaged was the most expensive one as well......." I struggled to raise so much as a mild titter when I heard that, but at least they are consistent | |
