| Evening all,
Don't want to be cheeky but would anyone running over 400bhp in a newage be willing to take me on a quick run out as a passenger in their car please? Be happy to stick fuel money in or whatever.
I'm looking to up the power on mine and don't know how far I want to take it so would be nice to get an idea of what's what.
Cheers Ross. | |

| Personally the spec on the car as it is should be good for around 360 ish. I owned it after steve for a bit and I always felt that the car could be made quicker just with the existing mods that are already on it. Maybe have a look at getting it mapped again from scratch. 360bhp with the handling mods it has on already should make it a cracking road car | |

| My old car is still on here and personally I did not want to push it too far,the new owner is working on the handling and adding his own stamp on the car but I personally would not push a wrx over 360bhp (I took advise on board from all the clever lads on here) and I never really had any bother with mine | |

| 400 is not enough, 500 is not enough.. In reality it is enough but you get used to that power kicks and it becomes normal so you think to up it to get a kick out of it again, | |

| I don't really want to take it much further than it is already to be honest. Kindon reckons it would do 360ish on ecutek with Bob Rawle but I'd rather keep the £480 towards a possible forged build.
When I got it the filter was absolutely ruined with rust and crap, just changing that made quite a difference from what it was. Picks up a lot better but as always you get used to it and want more!

| Nick's is around 400bhp, i think thats quick enough for a full blown road car like,
Loose abit weight from the car, strip the boot out and feel the difference,

| If you're wanting to go 400bhp. Then maybe going for an sti might be a better option they would do 400bhp all day on the standard internals plus you have the 6speed box. I imagine the selling value plus a forged build on top would easily get a well sorted widetrack running the numbers you're after. If you're wanting to keep the car I would go with what andy said. If I had kept it a bit longer that was the route I would have went down. Everything is already there so it'll be quick and simple to sort and give you more time to enjoy what is a really good car. | |

| Had the same discussion with daz earlier on. Basically if I think il be happy with low 400s il most likely change up to an sti. If I think I would end up forging the sti lump to go for more power later down the line then il just bite the bullet and get a motor built for mine. Theory being that if I would be building a forged motor anyway and therefore take the engine out of the equation it would cost more to buy an sti on top of mine than it would just to bang a 6 speed in it. All the other supporting bits are either already in place on mine or would have to be changed on an sti anyway. Hopefully a run out with Daz will give me more of an idea of what I'm after, that said the fact I've spent the last few weeks looking at nothing but engine build threads probably suggests where I'm heading! Decisions, decisions | |

| But you're talking £2200 + fitting + clutch for a 6 speed conversion. The STI has a lot going for it over the wrx besides the 6 speed and a standard engine that can take 450bhp. It's lighter and has better suspension setup for a start. | |

| You blobeye smart looking scooby
I would get 6 speed befor engine mate
6speed box up for sale now set up £1300 Can use your flywheel in 6 speed if all good so all you need is clutch
I bought a wrx because already had forged engine and 6 speed box done so I had to just sort the looks and up the power which iv now done and iv got over 6k in mine not include parts iv took of and sold so is it worth it ? If I bough sti still would of cost me same if not more to be safe

| I'd buy a Sti I had a wrx its not just the fact that you can put a box in its all the other extras you get you add all them bits up and it's comes in ££ss yes it's 1300 for a box then fitting it !! You can get a blob that can handle 400 all day without forging it. And all the Sti extras. | |
