dont think it can be mapped into ecutek, you may have to go aftermarket ecu, or seperate controller such as gizzmo or omex. i too am about to get one of these controllers as my gems ecu doesnt support launch either.

I have launch control and full throttle shifting mapped into my standard hawkeye 32 bit ECU, the launch control is also available for the bugeye 16 bit ECU when mapped with open source software, not sure if this is available from a standard ECUTEK setup but it will be with there racerom setup I would imagine.

I agree with Alan. There are far too many factors which affect the 'perfect' launch conditions - road surface, temperature, weather, tyre pressures etc.... so there is no substitute for 'Throttle control'! Wink

well thats put me in 2 minds, tbh if it can be done onto the standard ecu i might go for it, if not, well its a possible mod for the future, i know it can be done on the newer models but have no back up on a bugeye?........i guess andy forrest is the man to truely ask....cheers for the input tho lads Wink

agree launch control will do nothing to improve times, its main benifit is lees strain on transmission

less strain?? i have been looking into launch via a gizzmo controller for a couple of weeks now and tbh most pppls opinions are exactly the opposite, that strain to transmission clutch diff and shafts are all increased?

depends on how its set up, its a driver aid to help control a launch and limits power until wheels reach around 2-3 mph, hence limits power = less strain

ive got to say mate i agree andy can you explain abit about this mate as my impression was that launch controll put strain on your clutch and yu were lucky if you got more than 7 launches out of it.. as ive got it and dont wana use it if its gunna ruin clutches all the time as i cant afforf to be buying new ones
lol Laughing Laughing

if you can clarify if you dont mind as obviously you know it better than we do

I also am confused about this. Andy could you explain how you use launch control in a way that puts less stress on the drive train? From person experience (twice) launch control has broke the car, once the gearbox and once the rear diff and clutch. I wont use it again, its become to expensive. I just have the launch control that Duncans mapped on the 2.5 engine and I got told just to let the clutch out at with your foot flat down, think the LC is set at 5k. I also personally think it improves the 1/4 mile time, its like been fired out of a catapult off the line instead of bogging down if you don't use it. Is the a difference between switch on/off LC than mapped LC?

Cheers Andy
