Slick tyres Wots all the numbers about lol

Never bought slicks before just been looking for 2nd hand ones on eBay but I havnt got a clue wot they mean lol

I need 255/35/18 or 255/30/18 or 265/30/18

Can anybody translate the numbers :-)

They're normally rated tread width / overall diameter / rim diameter. Bear in mind that the width of a road tyre is the carcass width, while a slick is measured on tread width, so the equivelant to 185/50-13 would be perhaps 175/515/13.
Also worth noting is that you'll have to change suspension settings and camber at the very least to get the slicks to work properly too

You would need something like a 245/645/18 or 245/640/18 they would go on 8.5-10" wide rims.

problem with slicks is unless weather perfect then ther no good, also too much grip on 4wd car can be nitemare too on dragstrip unless ya have a twin plate clutch or similar, summitt lyk 888s or the yokos would be better imo

You could use some Khumo slicks in soft compound they would work or Dunlop CR311 in X22 compound they are a good sprint tyre but are only avaliable in 220 section so similar to a 235 but they would work.

For Elvington 888's are s**t if you can find any get some Dunlop DG02's in soft/medium compound but they are rare as they are not in production anymore, If you changed to 17" rims there is more choice and Avon 10" wide slicks in super soft would be awesome in wet or dry but at £300 a tyre can work out expensive.
