PostSubject: De Tango help   De Tango help EmptyThu 27 Oct - 12:22

OK, I'm going to put my testees on the line and have a go at De-Tangoing my Blobeye headlights.

Ive had a look at a few guides that people have done and think I can pull this off.

Three questions for anyone who's already done this :

Do I really need to use some extra sealant in addition to the original mastik ?
Can I heat the units up with a hairdryer / heatgun instead of sticking them in the oven ?
Exactly what bulbs do I need to replace the OEM ones ?

Ive looked through loads of threads and also on ebay and I cant figure out which bulbs to buy. If anyone has got a link I'll get them ordered now.

Not done it on a scoob but done it on a few others, you will need silvertec bulbs, i dont think heat gun will be hot enough and i would say yes use additional sealant, something like tiger seal or stickaflex or summit

I preferred using a heat gun when doing mine mate. A little extra sealant wouldn't hurt however I didn't use/need any. Be careful not to get finger prints on the inside of the lense or chrome bits inside.

I used a hair dryer when i did mine and DanG's and put them back together using a bit silicone sealant, so far no goldfish in mine or Dan's. if i remeber rightly there's at least 1 or 2 hidden screws behind some foam padding on the back of the headlights just to keep you on your toes

I kept on blowing the Silvertec ones and the light they give off i thought was a bit wank so i've got yellow bulbs in from a Toyota dealer as the price of them from Subaru is silly, see pic below, not full on clear but better than before
