section 172 road traffic act 1988...............there goes my small number plate, twats sent me a notice through the post with 14 days to comply, on the plus a written warning is better than a £60 fine, so need legal but the smallest size for plates, got used to the look now Sad

How small is your plate???

I have a standard style plate with import size letters/numbers on it, had no bother with this.

Mine is the smallest legal imported size plate you can get. Touch wood, ive had no trouble with police so far however im in a position to argue as its fully badged up with the legal stamps etc. would just have to convince them the car is an import Laughing

Online with 'Craigsplates', was expensive though. Just short of £20 delivered but you also have to send them the logbook and ID. You'd need to produce them for a legal plate anywhere though. Everything is recorded on their part though so your docs are safe in that respect.

I got pulled purely cos my lettering was wrongly spaced on my private plate - correct size letters, correct size plate etc .. took a photo of my car and told to get it changed - had to get something stamped by an MOT station to prove it and hand it in and was told that if they caught me again my private plate would be taken off me!

It's all because the ANPR can't read them .. so they have a hissy fit and make you change it :-( - seen 100's much worse but they still have theirs - it's really annoying :-)
