| Even when theres a lot of people in, it usually doesnt take too long to get sorted and get out. Think you do have to sort it at local office currently though as youve gotta swap tax discs etc. |

| Im not 100% on it mate but would have thought it would be the case. Theyve got people going round the waiting room that sort you out with all the forms you need and tell you what to fill in so when people finally get seen to at the counter, everything is ready and gets processed quicker. Queue was out the door when i went to put my plate on and i was walking out the place after about 25mins or so. |

Best time to go normally is first thing on a morning +1 I've had to it several times and it's an arse ache, make 100% sure you have all the documentation you need, the eagle eyed fookers will spot anything missing a mile off

| This is from the Dvla website and says you can do it by post.
You will need to:
complete a V317 ‘application to transfer or retain a vehicle registration number’ - if the number is being transferred to someone else’s vehicle, then both registered keepers must complete the application enclose the £80 transfer fee Also enclose for both vehicles:
the registration certificate or the new keeper supplement with a completed V62 ‘application for a vehicle registration certificate V5C' a test certificate – needed for cars and motorcycles over three years old, and heavy goods vehicles over one year old If the new keepers supplement has been stamped by a DVLA local office you’ll need to complete a V62 ‘application for a vehicle registration certificate V5C' before you can apply.
If either vehicle needs taxing, enclose:
a completed V10 ‘application for a tax disc’ or the V11 reminder a certificate of insurance or valid cover for the vehicle the payment of vehicle tax Send the completed application to your nearest DVLA local office.

| i know its off topic ..
regarding plates .. it seems isf you tamper with a private plate ie custom plate etc ...
top and bottom of it ..if its not std size plate you WILL loose the registration no.and you wont get your money back
so a 2grand reg on illegal sized plate = fine 6 points loss of registration and no refund .. this came into effect from 1st of this mnth
