Cheap Digital inlet/charge temp gauge how to.

I noticed a sale thread kickin about on another forum for charge temp gauges, these are going for £15 upwards (some one flea bay going for £25). There seemed to be a bit of interest in them so thought i'd let you know how i did mine many moons ago .

If your after one you could do it all of a few quid.
Buy the same gauge which is meant for a P.C. Got mine for here for £3 no import duty payed (as less than £40)

Then a voltage regulator from Maplins 99p

Then with the regulator, Flat side facing down with 3 pins pointing to 3 o'clock

Wire as follows.

Top pin = 5v+ output to red wire on gauge
Middle pin = 12v- input joined to output to black wire on gauge
Bottom pin = 12v+ input from ign live

If needed the temp prob can be extended without issue, just cut the two wires & extend them.
