whats the best way to check it? clean, replace etc??

The only reason I knew mine was on its way out was when it was getting mapped and obviously it controls your avcs VVT ,
It goes intermittent that's how it was picked up.
No clean just buy another I think I payed about £40 but it is located on the up side of the gearbox and you can only get to it from under the car so gearbox has to be loosened to manoeuvre in.
An hours labour or less mate.

Dealers or mark at import car parts, as Martin says in on the top of the box can be a pig to change depends how tight it is lol

Yeh mine was picked up on a Andy Forrest mapping sesh also I wouldn't of known.......Andy kindon sorted mine with no hassle ;0)
