This is definitely worth doing at Teesside autodrome, had a great time and was there for 6 hours
First stage was a gymkhana event in a buggy thing, sounded like a quad engine and had a manual gearbox with a ken block style lever for changing gears, pull back on the lever to change up push to change down and best bit is the clutch is only needed in 1st! They had a nice gymkhana course set out and you got more points for the more sideways you went
the sense of speed is unreal
Had to do 2 practice laps and then 2 timed laps.
Second stage was a Subaru rally event on Tarmac
they had 2 stripped out classics to use, both had roll cages, boot mounted fuel tanks, light pods on the front, rally tyres, ebc brakes, and had been tuned up a bit by scoobyclinic to 300bhp, still used the standard gearbox it seemed but with short shift fitted. Very battered looking cars though but all the more reason to go crazy in them
Again had to do 2 practice laps and 2 timed laps, had a co-driver this time! Got the car very sideways a few times
Third stage was back in the buggies that was used for the gymkhana event but this time had to go round the go-cart track, same circuit they use for the ironman event I believe! Just told to go out and play for this one but try and achieve a quick time and at this point we were told the buggies were capable of 80mph woohoo! I've never had to much fun on 4 wheels, drifting on every corner and doing 80mph in a car the size of a shoe definitely puts a big grin on the face
Again had 2 practice laps and 2 timed laps, on the 2 timed laps though it started to rain which made things very interesting and very fun!
All this cost £99 on groupon but it's only available in winter, they are doing a similar event in summer which is all day on a Saturday and costs £130, definitely worth the money if your a petrol head like me
