high miles

if i dnt sell this scooby and do decided to keep it should i be massivly wurried about the milage it has on it has pretty much full service history, its a 1997 uk trubo 2000 but has 196k miles on seems to run and boost pretty well little oil leek somewhere nothing major would exspect this to be honest as of age and milage but runs mint just wondering if ayone can tell me what to look out for signs of things going wrong lol

well my 93 leggy is on 213k and still pulls great with no oil leaks and boosts perfect, its had reg services and looked after, as long as yours has been serviced reg I don't see any reason to be worried.

think aslong as u look after it would of thought it would be ok but then again with imprezas they can blow at anytime. my old bug had full subaru history and blew up with 88k on it.
my current one had a rebuild after 74k and my mates blob went at 40k.

yet my leggy has never had a rebuild and has been serviced every 5 months unless it hit 7.5k and its still sweet at 213k lol, its purely random I think

It really depends on how the engine has been treat through its life, if its been thrashed from cold and serviced using poor oil or services skipped then it ain't going to do the miles,poorly modified doesn't help, the other thing is most of the engines that go early have been run low on oil at some point in there lives.

On the other hand a well serviced using good quality oils, treat with some mechanical sympathy when cold, never ran low on oil and ran on good quality fuel engine will last indefinitely.

My classic had 97000 and was sweet as and it always got thrashed but was never red lined....... Once into the red the engine is dead
