OK peeps, here is the all important convoy post.
I'm going to use 3 reference points for simplicity - Washington Services, Durham Services (Bowburn) and Scotch Corner. If you are not joining at one of these points then you'll have to use your initiative.
Washington to Bowburn is about 15mins, so the Washington lot should be setting of at 08:00 in order to meet up with the group who will depart Durham Services at 08:15.From there it's about 25-30mins down to Scotch Corner depending on the traffic, so the folks there should expect us around 08:45
Biggest crew will probably be gathering at Dham Services (Bowburn) lets say from 07:45 onwards to allow people to stock up for the journey. 30 mins should be enough before the off.
If you are travelling from anywhere else and not joining the convoy you need to be at the showground for 09:30 as we'll setting up the stand as per Keith's post, in colour order and with show cars at the front and we don't want to be messing about waiting for stragglers.
This probably means we want to get into some kind of order whilst the convoy is rolling, as organising 75 cars when we get to the field would be comical and a headache. Now i know its probably easier said than done and I know it won't be perfect on the way down but let's see if we can at least try. I let Keith post the colour order as he see's it.
Finally lets try and keep things in good order whilst on the road. Pulling a boat load of Scoobs in convoy would be a traffic cops wet dream and last year one or two folks mentioned suffering damage to their vehicles with people lashing past at speed and kicking up debris.
So with that I will say get washing and polishing and wet your whistles ready for the big day. I think this is going to be rather good and remember if you didn't put your name down to go you can always beg a lift off someone or just park with the public and come say hello.
And whatever you do, don't forget your £10 entrance fee......and your sunblock !
