Newbie and Secondary Air pump Problems

Good Afternoon guys.
Ive had my 06 Hawkeye WRX Sti for around 8 months now and it has been going fine till the other day when I noticed my engine warning light on.

I realised the secondary air pump is constantly on, there for one of the valves is stuck open. Ive disconnected the plug to the pump for now as I'm off away to work for a few weeks tomorrow.

I have read a few guys on here and BBS.Scooby have the same issues.

I was hoping that those of you that have had the problems will know where to direct me. I was looking at removing the system and putting the blanking plates in. I was up for doing this my self till I read about the possible sensors on the valves that need welding etc.

I currently live in Marske, near Redcar and was wondering if there is anywhere local that could do the removal and recode the ECU to remove the fault codes.

I'm not 100% what the exact codes are as I have no diagnostics. Which leads me to my second question, is there a way of reading the codes via flashes/blinks etc or is a cpu required.

There are plenty of guys on here that will remove them for you but you will need a mapper to switch the codes off, they are generally up here every month or so, not sure how much they charge to do this though.

My advice would be to go to Darren at DLM in Darlington just before Bob Rawle is doing a mapping day at his place and get Darren to remove them the day before Bob is doing the mapping day, that way you can kill 2 birds etc.
