| OK, so the OBD2 code reader arrived and I read the instructions diligently before plugging the fella in. It scanned the system and came up with the following : P1312 - Exhaust gas temperature circuit malfunction P0545 - Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1, Sensor 1 I asked it to erase the codes, which it said it had done, then I disconnected the reader and started the car. To my surprise (or not) the CEL was still on, so I scanned again and P0545 came up again. I repeated this process about 5 times (read/erase, read/erase etc) and its still there. Whats the craic ? Is this something that can only be sorted in the map ? Ive lobbed the 2.2k ohm resistor in to the plug as instructed by mr kindon, but cant remember which fault this was to cure (I know, me spaz) | |

| Thats one of the reasons I love this forum, even if someones input is going to be completely and utterly friggin useless, they feel free to give it without fear of recrimination. Good on you mate | |

| the resistor is for diagnostic lambda sensor down stream from the cat and not temp probe , have u removed temp prob when fitting an after market exhaust and not refitted it , if u have then this is your fault , hope this helps | |

| Colin is bang on, you can replace the probe with a resistor that will give thew correct reading to the ecu, can't remember the size off the top of my head, will look it up for you.
they are available from maplin etc...

| Already done that chaps. The resistor is located well in the plug, and yes its the right plug coz I got mr kindon to show me exactly which one, so I didnt fek it up, and yes its the right resistor as I sourced it from our electronics team here in the B&D lab.
Have other people just located the resistor legs in the plug or have you added spade terminals to the legs to get a better male/female location ?
By the way, I thought the resistor fault relates to the P1312 code I was getting but cleared, I'm after info on the P0545 code which I thought was a front Lambda fault.

| if you have a front sensor fault and you have reset the ecu and it has come back then you need a new front sensor, simple. | |

| I know, and I had to buy a rear one a little while back and that was bad enough.
Typically ANdy Kindon said "thats bad luck Keith, the rear ones almost never go"
Now Ive got to buy a friggin front one.
Stupid question - what happens if I just leave it "faulting" ?

| It may be worth trying a breaker for a 2nd hand one as they are usually reliable on the newage cars. | |

| The front one for a new age was around £237+vat the last time I got one from the dealer, that is a very good price if it is for real.
Think Andy K may have one from the bug sti he was breaking, may be worth giving him a shout.

| Jeez £237 , I got a pucka Denso rear one for £47.00 a few months back, mind you I was lucky there. I'll drop a general Wanted out and see what transpires. | |
