I went from 17's to 18's on my classic but soon put the 17's back on as the ride was a bit harsh with the 18's, but i was also on coilovers.

I had 17" on the wagon i put 225 tyres on the back and they rubbed like hell. 215 is the size you want. Scoobyneil has 18" on his, he loves how it goes round corners and how the ride is. I think it a case of put them on and see if you like the ride of it. Prob need the arches rolling aswel.

For a classic on 18" wheels you should be using 215/35/18 tyres

225/40/18 is a newage size tyre.

Yeah it's harsh but not too bad to be honest if you have standard style suspension, as said before that ain't as good on coilovers.

I have 18s on mine with standard shocks & Tein lowering springs with 215/35/18 tyres and the ride is spot on - not harsh at all like I thought it would be.

Get some 215/40/18 tyres on and it will be spot on. 225 is too wide, 215 will fit the arches spot on
