| Me dad's just rang, his Bugeye has chucked a CEL light after driving over some rough / potholed road - any idea what it could be? Will get the code read ASAP but just wondering what a likely reason is, dunno if it could have been knock sensor?
Cheers | |

| Totaly standard WRX, seems to be running OK. Think is probs just had a brain fart with the jarring from potholes but dunno why that would put a CEL up? | |

| Sounds like a loose connection, see if it's stored a fault code and take it from there. | |

| Hi Fellas, Daves old man here, the scoob has had an exhaust change at some time in its life, as its a non standard thats on, I went over a rough bit of road at the roundabout from the Tyne Tunnel crossing the coast road, A189/A19 north, and once I was over the mountain range the orange engine shaped light came on, I have tried stopped the engine and restarted it but the light is still there, so will be stored, I am curious as to why Carlos asked about the exhaust ??
Thankyou for your replies, as I am new to scoobies you can imagine the back of my underpants when the light come on.

| Stopping and starting again wouldn't usually knock a light off, sometimes removing the battery can but unsure if this will wipe the code. I don't know much about scooby engine management but know some cars delete the codes if you reset it. I think it's worth checking codes, simply as it might be coincidence the CEL has come on after the bumps and there is something wrong. Could just be a loose/bad connection triggered by the bumps. Some would disconnect the battery on a car to reset then see if it came back on before getting it checked......but that's a personal choice. There might be a specific way of doing it on an impreza which no doubt someone will know, some cars need it off for a short time some longer etc.

| On the newage cars the fault needs to be cleared using a code reader or laptop, disconnecting the battery only works on the classics, as for the fault it will need reading to be sure. | |

| When I went to start the car this morning the light was out, but still went to Drews to have it checked out, apparently there had been a hiccup with the Lamda sensor on the right hand bank, once I had left and drove for a couple of miles it came back on, so can only now assume it is an intermittent fault on the sensor, Drew told me to put the cable back into the clip to keep it in place, so will try that tomorrow, also he thought there may be a slight exhaust blow.
Huge Thankyou to Drew for looking at that for me, a true Gent.

| The light came on again today and after about 200 yards travel the whole engine come to a grinding halt, engine would turn over but not fire up, as I was in the middle of the Lincolnshire countryside had to call out the RAC, they arrived and after telling the mech about the sensor he put the fault code reader on, and no power at the plug, so opened the fuse box and a 30amp fuse was blown, replaced it and the car tried to run but blew the fuse again, so he traced out the lamda sensor cable and found it had been chaffing and was shorting out, he made a temporary repair and that was me mobile again. So I will still take it into the Garage tomorrow and see what they have to say. | |

| Garage repaired it without any hassle, only problem I have now ... where can I get a 30amp fuse ? its a flesh coloured minature wheelybin shaped thing, with a prspex top, all the local motor outlets don`t have them ... allowing for the fact this is Lincolnshire and flush toilets are still new fangle. | |
