The police are handing out fixed penalty notices (3 points and a fine) for "car in dangerous condition" if it has snow on the roof, its understandable cos if you brake hard the snow covers your windscreen
Anyway just thought I would let you lot know

I got a txt off me mate the other day warning about this and it was in the Echo today saving it was just a rummer. When they asked the police they said they was no offence against against driving with snow on your roof but if it fell onto your windscreen and obstructed your view or fell off into traffic you could be done with careless driving/not been in control of your vehicle. Luck of the draw suppose they are trying to say don't be a dick and drive with a igloo on top of your car but they wont stop everyone with a few inches.

my cousin is chief inspector at durham and I ask him about it, he says it unoffical but they have told there offices to be on the look out for cars with more than 3 inches of snow on there roof.
so be warned as jonny and calvert say you can be done for it.

saw this happen to a woman in a brand new corrado at the roundabout at bottom of mad mile in spenny 2 nights ago. she braked hard and must have papped herself as the avalanche went over the front of the car. complete white out and wipers frozen to the screen. dozy mare.
