How can I find if car has been mapped

Hi guys is their anyway I could find out if my car has been mapped,I have tried to contact previous owner without any luck,the car is a bugeye with a vf22 turbo full decat and tmic it also has k&n filter any info would be good thanks steve

If it hasn't been mapped it can't be good for it with a new turbo. if you have done lots of miles and had it boosting a few times I would pressume it has?? Add a few more bits then get a tweak and you will be sure its been mapped

One easy way is to get it rolling roaded or fit a boost gauge to see what its boosting at

They could have fitted a manual boost controller so the boost would be higher than normal?

after looking over your car today a would be shocked if it hasnt been mapped.

Probs around 1.4 bar ish

I have the same problem, bought my 2002 WRX and no idea as i got her from a clueless dealer. Think I will put in on a RR?

Yeah, no probs steve. Might be best to give us a call first to make sure Im there in case im out mapping somewhere.

I can show you your current boost/fuel/timing settings etc... and compare it to the standard map to see if its been modified.

am not trying t contridict u or anything (i carnt map and wouldnt even atempt it.)

a just was lead t believe if a ecu had been ECUTEKE'D,no other mapper could look at the maps without a passcode?

i thought open source could only be read as finn says ecutek has code to unlock the map

a meant 99-00 ecu's.

am not trying t take the piss or anything, like av said in the past a nar ZERO about mapping

but can rectify faults,remove/refit engines etc etc (no return complaints).

You don't have to be a mapper to workout if its been mapped, the key is boost control, after any remap on a Subaru to gain power the mapper will need to increase boost pressure, if the car has the standard boost control system intact and the boost is significantly higher than 0.9 bar (standard on a newage 2.0 WRX) then you can safely say it has been remapped.
there are other way to tell but this is far and away the easiest.

Finn, the administrator version of the ecuedit software (the one I have) will give you full access to ECUTEK maps on the newage cars, you can find it here mate- http://www.epifansoft.com/phpBB3/index.php



You will need a tactrix cable too though, if you need to borrow mine you are more than welcome.
