Phew thanks Phil, was going to put Dan on later but didn't have the time to edit the whole list for Lordy again. Club registration list on SNet is now 32+ cars and counting - well done folks. Just need to get some organising done as only another 6 weeks before the event. Anyone any ideas where the NESF banners etc are from last year? Need some ideas from folks as to what we can do that will stand out from everyone, could do the following: NESF Numberplate covers with car type, NESF car spec sheets for display in windows, Any other ideas welcome! | |

| Five Weeks To NBO - Sunday 26th June 2011.
How are you all getting along with getting your cars show ready? Will need to check with Lordy for the size/layout of the stand and start getting the ball rolling. | |

| here is all the information you are looking for the competions at the NBO 9
this will be the 7th year we have held the club competion and after getting to such incredible levels in the last few years with the new kids on the block taking 1-2-3 we will be continuing with this very important part of the show.
similar format, the Trophies have been ordered, and we have done what we wanted to do many years ago increase subaru awareness and link people to the growing club scene that we have created In the last nine years .
Its interesting to see that in over 300 cars expected we have had over 268 linked to clubs and because of that and the numbers you have supplied us with we are again relaying the field with more emphasis on club space and smaller lines in the middle for independents it was great to see the independents being targeted by the clubs to increase membership to their clubs . Last year the field was planned to perfection by the team and club space was increased which made the displays stand out even better.
If we see people not visiting other clubs stands and hanging around their own club stands only then it wont work ,but we dont want to go back 8 years to just lines of cars so NBO 9 will work if people actually visit other clubs to see each others cars and displays Its a 2 way process club stands MUST be inviting and people are not shy and walk to other clubs to see their cars and meet fellow owners
most stand managers have reported lots of visitors to their stands ,prehaps other clubs dont want rival clubs looking at their displays I dont know but I want to see everyone on the field moving from display to display ,been wellcomed by other clubs
The Club stand judges are
Lord harding (CS/TTS )NBO Chairman With over 28 years senior management experience running shops always looking at perfection ,design ,layout, salesmanship and passion and marketing .some say he is mad but his commitment to getting Subarus together in a field will go on untill NBO 10
Gus (CS chairman ) Gus was in at the NBO right from the start ''his planning of the field and logistics is fantastic and has helped get the NBO to where it is today " Gus has shared in the and wants the NBO to be the best car show in the uk ,I think we have achieved that with our great club displays ,Colour ,ceremonies trophies and cars.
Mark (classic wr1 show car ) an experienced custom car man ,winner of many awards on the cruise theme owns one of the most photographed Subarus in the UK and has worked closely with us for many years and spends his time visiting other car shows to give us inspiration. he has taken great interest in stand layouts and is great asset to the team
Dudsy (CS member)the wild card entry from last year ,Dudsy has been with CS and the NBO concept for 6 years and really showed his talents last year as club stand judge ,pointing out new concepts and helping us go the extra mile . Could he be the new simon Cowell of the judges ?
Andy Casson (weasel 555) All the way from USA ! Yes that's right !! Andy is flying in on the 23rd for the NBO 9 such dedication !!!,for those that don't know Andy he is one of the BIG Subaru boys from over the pond, senior moderator on the big American forums and has owned many different models over the years a true purist and has organised many Subaru events over the years in the USA he has given us great input for the NBO vision and is a top qualified judge in many aspects of cars and shows .
The five judges will score up to 200 points per display giving a total of 1000 points We worked this concept last year and the results were amazing with less then 30 points separating the top 3 !!!We all have different ideas but will all be following the following Criteria
The sections and points are Nbo 9 CLUB STANDS
Banners /signage 10 Bunting/ flags 10 Use of colour/equipment 10 Space uses wisely 10 position of vehicles 10 impact of display 10
60 maximum score ---------------------------------------- CARS clean and tidy 10 Variety of modles 10 Boards and specs on cars 10
30 maximum score
------------------------------------------ CLUB HEADQUARTERS
Quality of tents/ equipments 10 club info/leaflets etc 10 Catering/hospitalility 10 SWAG and kid friendly 10
40 maximum score ------------------------------------------ Club members /Activities Roles of members 10 Details of club activities 10 Club Regaila /uniforms 10
CLUB STRUCTURE 30 maximum score -----------------------------------------------
WOW FACTOR !!!
Desire to win 10 The X Factor 20 Club Theme 10
IMPACT ON THE DAY 40 maximum score
-------------------------------------------- Total 200 points per Judge per display
notes on the above to help the club stand managers Is it wellcoming to outsiders ? Is everyone treated like a judge ? does your entry look good from a distance ? are you advertsing your club ? If it was a shop would you go in and buy something ? would you buy into the club/subaru concept did you plan it out beforehand ? Cars is there lines of scoobies crushed in together or have you put some thought into the layout in colour ,age ,modle, variety and possibly a centre piece ?
Remember we have the show Arena for the entries for the car of the day !!! are all cars on show looking their best with spec sheets (you will see only max 30 points are awarded for this section as there is more to a club display then just cars !!!
(lordys pet hate is someone polishing the car wearing umbro/addias or looking bored or scared when the judges are wandering around) Is your Club HQ looking fantastic ,this is your headquarters ,your conference room and rest area Does it look the part ?
Do you have club documentation ,leaflets ,buisness cards, photos etc? Have you refreshments for your troops and guests? A well fed club is a happy club ""Very imortant part of club structure this !!
Have you developed the SWAG section (Subaru wives and girlfriends ) and activies for any Subaru children as we have become more mainstream /family orintated rather then just men dressed in jeans and T-Shirts looking down at engine bays what we started ten years ago !!
There is many points for this so plan it out well!!
Club members make the group ############
Are they Buzzing and passionate and as excited as Lordy and the judges ? or are they standing around bored and thinking of the dump valves and the price of fuel ? Are they advertsing their club and scoobies or addias and umbro or chav style clothing ? Is the club well organised with structure and meetings ? does the appointed stand manager shine and is he committed ?
##Can he sell the benefits of the club ### Is he/her the ultimate salesman /spokesman and purist "" the club stand manager and his team ,their excitement and manner has won many tropheys !!
The X Factor !!!
Has the complete stand and staff got it? Does the judges walk away thinking that was fantastic and wishing they were part of that club ?
and we are repeating again this year !!!
A Theme ####
We would like every club to come up with a theme for the day ,it can be 'anything' scooby OR non scooby
It could be dressing up ,collections ,a charity, a new display, some thing different ? ---Its your choice ---- that is your club theme for the day and you will get 10 points for that and that tied up with the X factor could make you a winner ,
good luck for the gold !!
New clubs dont panic the judges are not as bad as they make out dont be frightened as we are tougher on the Big Hitters """ Some clubs are richer then other newer clubs ,thats why we have developed different criteria that doesnt need hugh amounts spent ,passion is sometimes as important to give every club a chance for the gold
we have final list of 12 clubs now for the NBO
Cumbrian Scoobs 22 cars TTS 31 NESF. 32 UK Scoobies 29 LADS 40 YPCO 12 NWC. 12 Porsche independent owners club 15 Simply Subaru club. 35 UK legacies 10 CADS 20 Fathers corner ( will be unveiled on the day ) 10
stand Managers
##PLEASE CAN YOU ENSURE THAT EVERYONE FROM YOUR CLUB WHO IS GOING IS ON THE NBO LIST AS INSURANCE IS GETTING BOOKED ON THE 12th June # and the field has been planned and we can,t change it for late comers
NOT ON LIST YOU CAN'T COME IN !!!!
This year we will be starting the judging at 1115 am Sharp # And are determined to complete it by 1245 ,we know what we are looking for so please check the above and go for the GOLD !!
see you all soon
Lordy
Thanks for your great support | |

| NBO 9 SHOW AND SHINE COMP #######
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well as it was so popular last year with the new arena and with over 180 scoobies taking part last year we are repeating the
NBO 9 show and shine car of the day comp
this year we will have an even BIGGER arena to give more space for the cars and the crowds that watch this . As the NBO concept grows every year we feel this is the future for the final years of the NBO
this is a major part of fundraising so everyone pays a quid as they drive into the arena for the charity buckets We made over £400 for charity last year .
we try to keep it simple and quick and this year Carl Bowes and the judges have made a few changes to things ,speed the process up for the 180 cars expected in the arena for the various classes and we have made an even BIGGER arena
Judges Well to sort out the best cars of the day we have assembled some great judges !!!
Chief Judge Carl Bowes Carls CV is impressive with many national trophies all over the uk and europe with his collection of custom show cars and magazine features over the last 10 years he understands modifications and what makes the WOW factor in a car ,he has given new direction to the judging and competition this year .
Craig "Del Boy " Who can ever forget Del Boys famous orange Subaru from NBO 6&7 overall show winner and then went on to be best car in Britain winner Like Carl ,Delboys house is full of trophies and he being a showman himself understands and recognises winners in the car scene
Stephen "woody " Nobody knows more about modifying then "woody " with 20 years experience ,technical advice ,mechanically and DIY he knows his stuff and has judged for the NBO for 4 years now and contributions are really in depth and correct
Andy Rae from Scotland The new kid on the block but with 20 years experience in show and shine on the RS concourse scene and now Subaru nothing gets past him . Some say he will get his White gloves out and want to check the nuts and bolts are the correct angle and the things are taken apart ,cleaned and put back together again he will not miss anything a true perfectionist .
Steve Nesham TTS chairman Steve has been on the car modifying scene for over 20 years now formally With american muscle cars and hot rods and motorbikes and now onto Subaru ,another mechanically genius who understands how cars work and should look to turn heads and improve on their standard specification .
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These judges have fantastic qualification and experience built up over many years and no one can ever question their abilities Yes we will always get the moaners and grumbles and it would be easy to give 180 trophies away to keep everyone happy but these guys have the awesome job of sorting out the best cars in the show ,they know their stuff and their decision is always final !!
Please read carefully for the changes we have made ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1pm 1. Best non Subaru car A great class to get us underway for the day Non Subaru only ,anything goes and will in this class to draw the crowds to the arena Might even be some of the Porsche and fathers corner cars too ,so grab your camera for these
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 120pm 2 Classic Show and shine This is the first BIG change for this year The judges are looking for classics that are clean and well polished to perfection ,engine bay clean and shiniest ,sills and underneath (mirrors would be great )!and interior clean these cars are all over 10 years old now so we are looking at how well they are today. this year we are looking for fairly original bodywork and NOT OVERLY MODIFIED ( we made this decision as there is not too many original classics left ,so minimum changes and MAXIMUM impact Is what we are after .if your classic is modified a LOT we recommend going for the new modified combined class, if you love detailing and cleaning this is the class for your classic ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 140pm
3 Standard new age cars, Legacies and foresters (apart from new hatches ) Show and shine Again another change from previous years we are looking for perfection ,concourse will get the judges excited and you could win the gold !!!#clean ,shiney , examples of polishing materials ,mirrors under the cars ,documents etc all these will help the judges decide these are cars from 2001 to 2008 so will all be in good condition Same as above NOT overly modified is what we are looking for otherwise best enter the new combined modified section This class like Class number one is for clean and shine. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2pm
4 Best new Hatch 2008+ this was trailed for the first time last year and the gamble paid off with 14 in the ring ? With hatches now the future of subaru we must continue to move ahead and show them Get your Hatch on the ring ,modified or clean and tidy ,the judges don't mind ,this class will draw the crowds as they are getting the enthusiastic owners upgrading to them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 220 pm 5 . Hifi installs/ICE Again this class continues to draw the crowds all out big boomy and bling makes the judges ears bleed show off your Install ,any thing goes the bigger the better ,open to all cars
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 240 pm 6. Best Modified Subaru (excluding hatches ) This is another BIG change to previous years The first 2 classes are for show and shine this is for MODIFIED and for the first time ever we are to COMBINE them in one arena !!! A lot of though has gone into this one ,we like to take risks and am sure this will be the biggest class (hence the new bigger arena to accommodate them) ALL classic and new ages will be together fighting for the gold cup. we are confident that classics can be as well modified as new ages so this will be a great class to enter and spectate Of course cars will be clean but the judges are looking at Mods and extras that you have made to improve performance ,styling and personalise to give it the WOW factor. -----------------------------------------------------------------------
3pm The final line up of the winners
6 runners up and 6 winners for each section compete for the
Car of the day ##
You will see 12 of the finest cars in the UK parked up together ##
--------------------------------------------------------- Awards ceremony starts
310 pm Lordys special awards 315pm prizegiving for all the cars 320 pm club of the day comp trophies 330pm raffle drawn 345pm charity cheque will be presented
that is the plan hopefully we will try to keep to these times but that is the running order for the day
-----------------------------------------------------------
