| Well my bottom ends on its last legs in my 94 wrx so im taking the car off the road for a year to sort all the jobs out
Just wandering which way to go as im wanting 450bhp+
Do i go for forged 2.0/2.1 or 2.5
Im sorting the bodywork out first and putting on me carbon bonnet and wings etc and maybe a respray , so im not in a rush about the engine plus it does still drive ok for now
Any advice very welcome

| Either stroke a closed deck 2ltr block or add a 2.5ltr with uprated parts. The stroked closed deck engine will take alot more power if you decide to go over 450bhp | |

| If the car is to be used for the most part as a road car then go 2.5 with uprated internals (having said that they work just as effectively as track, drag cars if done correctly - there's a number of big-power 2.5's - by that I mean over 500bhp - daily drivers on this forum).
One thing, and very important to bear in mind, is that to do it probably means more than just the engine - i.e clutch, gearbox, ecu, brakes, suspension etc etc Cost's can and do spiral out of control very quickly.......

| Ive been looking into the stroked 2.1 cdb but im still not sure Going to fit a six speed box , suspension and brakes already fitted and im running a simtek ecu. So its just the engine , box and turbo to sort | |

| unless your planning on running 600bhp+ or nos there is no need to to use a cdb, the standard ej20 casings are very good, a 2.5 will give better driveabilty for a road car with alot more low down power especially with the larger turbos 450+ | |

CDB is easy to spot, it will have cross hatchings marked on the block, below the alternator, below where the standard oil pressure sender is located

A CDB will probs be £300 more than his spend but will future proof his entire engine build Mikee is selling a Brian crower billet crank on 22b for £850 which is a steal and effectively takes a 2ltr block up to 2.23cc which then means you are virtually on a 2.2ltr CDB for a fraction of the costs

| FAO collywrx, imho, take advice from people who have actually took these engines to bits (andy K) and made them into high powered strong engines no disrespect to you stevBT, but andyK is excellent at rebuilding engines and no's his stuff. | |

| Just had a look and it is a closed deck block so thats good news.
like i said im going to leave it a few month so i can fit all the carbon and sort out a load more jobs on it
Andy k will probably end up doing the engine , thats if he wants it
Thanks for all the replies and ill stick pics up of it fitted with all the carbon
