| I am looking to upgrade my turbo. Mods so far:
Full De-cat K&N Typhoon Filter VTA Dump valve Remap by Race Dynamics
I was wanting an TD05 18G turbo but they seem to be around £600 new and I ain't seen any second hand ones for sale but I have noticed a lot of second hand turbos coming up for sale around the £200 mark and at this price it seems a no brainer upgrade a the minute compared to forking out for an 18g for a little more power. I was just wanting people opinions/recommendations on the below turbos and any other choices I might have. I have been doing some reading and I see some take longer than other to spool up. I would sacrifice a bit of power to have a turbo that spools up as quick as the small one currently fitted as I couldn't think of noting worse than lag, sounds like no fun at all.
IHI VF35 turbo is sounding the best at the minute as it seems it spools up quick and should deliver somewhere in the 340's. How much are the VF34's going for second hand, these are bigger aren't they?
I was also looking at the TD05 16G which seems to deliver more power but I take it there is quite a bit of lag.
Any other options out there around this price band?

| 16g always seems to be a good option theres very little lag and are good for 360bhp maybe a little more quick responce turbo ask eclipse performance they reccommed these over 18 or 20gs and thats saying summit as they sell all 3 and both are more expensive so there you go | |

Sounds what I am looking for, obviously got me info the wrong way round. Would this 16g be a straight fit to mine (57 2.5 WRX) whats this front entry crack? https://nesf.forumotion.co.uk/for-sale-f2/few-bits-for-sale-t602.htm

https://nesf.forumotion.co.uk/for-sale-f2/few-bits-for-sale-t602.htm your air filter will come underneath your manifold though the front whereas mine has a 90degree angle youve got the best option like more turbo options

| 16g is too spooly on the 2.5 - i would go 18G - the cost is well worth it. or get a VF43 or VF30 like Jonny has - proper ncei drive that car | |

| As duncan says, I would go for a VF43 from an STI Hawkeye or VF48 from an STI Hatch. They are both good turbos and spool realy good on the 2.5. Drew is running 390hp out of hes VF43 with similar mods to you and duncans remap.
These turbos are going for £300-£400.

| Cheers for the information people. Been reading up on turbos all night and I have come back round to the original decision of a 18G or now preferably a VF48. Think I would always regret it every time I went out if I chose any other turbo. If anyone sees any second hand units in good condition for sale please post the links up, been newer turbos their seems to be non for sale compared to the more common turbos mentioned. | |

TURBO It would have been if I was paid today instead of next Thursday and the auction hadn't ended but it seemed to have ended at a fair price. Shame about the VF48 its what am after. There's a TD05H 18g for that could be still for sale on Scooby Net its an old advert but there's nowt saying its sold. How many versions of the 18g is there or is it just the one?

| As Duncan said I would recommend a vf30, vf43 or vf48, all very good turbos and will get you what you want for a reasonable cost.
vf35 isn't a bad turbo either mind, Carlos and Andy K have them for sale at the moment.
