wots the difference between an open and closed deck engine and wot would be in my v5 turbo 2000

Open block and Closed Deck block and Semi Closed Deck Blocks.
Its all about the Veins around the Cylnders, the Open Block doesnt has little support, semi closed more and closed awsome.
The more material around the cylnder the less chance of it cracking and can take more power

The only classic Impreza fitted with a 2.0 closed deck block as standard is the version one wrx, all other classics came with open deck engines.

so mine cant take much power then . What are the 2.5 block s and wot sort of price do they go for and would it be worth the graft of takin it off the road to do

The STI 2.5 is a Semi Closed Block. I picked mine up for £1000 for the short motor!

depends on what power you want ???
new 2.5 block is around £1500

Or you can get a open deck 2.5 and get it pinned they running them at about 600bhp

its still a lot of cash like i think il go for a map maybe a new turbo too to start off with . I think getting a engine to work on over time then doin a transplant probs the best option i think then i will learn more about the engines since i moved over from bein a vauxhall perv to owning me first scooby which is now my pride and joy thanx to drew for selling it to me

The clue is in the name 22b as in 2.2
Should have edited my post to say only "classic" as some of the jap spec new age engines are CDB I think.
