Subject: Strange item found in the fuel tank!!! Thu 9 Feb - 20:05
Rather strange item found in the fuel tank today when andy k was fitting a walbro, anyone came across one of these before??? possibly to add lead into the fuel? [img][/img] [img][/img]

They are called broquets, they were used in world war 2 in spitfires to raise the fuel octane in poor quality fuel.
Totally useless, best remove them and bin them.

So the previous 'pike' owner has possibly thrown that in and ran the car on unleaded, being tight lol

found them on ebay which is no suprise, someones bought them to run the car on 95 octane fuel, the tight b*%&ards

Back in the retro days when I had an xr2 this is what was advised to pop in the tank when they phased out the good old Leaded petrol! i took the more expensive option and bought an xr2i instead!
