Thanks everyone. I'm seriously thinking about a classic Type R as my next project if I ever go back to 4 wheels... so watch this space

Welcome Mikkel - looking forward to some of your brutally honest IMO posts
Sure I saw your old Hawkeye on the A69 this morning - still not got a spoiler fitted

Mikkel with the 'Great British Weather' you need something with a roof on for when it's snowing/hail stoning/raining etc

I'm a pussy cat really
The lad that bought it lives in the North West but occasionally comes east, so it may well of been my old car. I sold it to him on the condition he did not stick any bits of unnecessary plastic or fake carbon fibre to the bodywork. He promised not to
I do miss the Impreza on those odd occasions I use the wife's car (Fiesta). It is painfully slow and apparently invisible to other road users in comparison.

Indeed. I reckon I need a car for about two to three months of the year. This is why I have been thinking of picking up a classic on the cheap and giving myself a bit of a project. Classic, Escort, Sierra, Elise and Mini (classic) are currently under consideration for the cold months.

Classic - yes Escort unreliable and old - pants in snow Sierra unreliable and old - unless you get a 4x you're stuck in snow Elise ...... no comment required if you are not a hairdresser......so useless in snow Mini (classic) won't start in the winter and take ages to warm up when they do - not much bigger than snow
