| After owning my 03 Blob Sti for a week or so I've decided I need to quieten the exhaust down a bit as I work shifts and it's p***ing off the neighbours.
It's fitted with a 3" Japspeed turbo back decat with a 110mm tailpipe.
Do I fit one of those ugly DB killers? Do they even work?
Do I fit a standard exhaust? Can do a deal with somebody?
The car has a PPP fitted from new and the previous owner fitted the 3" decat and flogged the standard exhaust on Ebay. Would a standard exhaust cock up the fuelling?
Any suggestions without spending a fortune?
A lot of questions I know but there is a vast amount of knowledge out there.

| Just tell the neighbour's it's road legal because it passes an MOT that's what I told my neighbours and I also work shifts, they've never complained anymore It won't sound the same at all if you put a standard exhaust on. | |

| Milltek non-res catback on mine (which I'm selling by) is very quiet compared to most on here, especially when you are taking it easy as I do when arriving home | |

| I think you are stuck with a certain amount of volume due to the fact that its decatted, mine certainly increased in db at that point in the mods.
Ive seen suggestions that the "Revolution" system is quiet and I wouldnt say that my TSL Group N was very loud either - it also has a 4"+ exit.
I'm sure you'll have some other options shortly.

| Cheers for the replies so far...............
I went for the bung up its tailpipe route but it's choking the life out of it, also, when you want to play you can't unless you stop and take the bugger out!!
Just been into Tyrespot for some new rubber and he suggested grafting one of their 2.5" back boxes on which he says would quieten it down a lot.
Further questions reveal it's still 'straight through' but narrower (2.5") but is similar to that used by Milltek and the Revolution system.
From reading some other posts, Andy Kindon mentions the back boxes of some 3" exhausts narrow to 2.5 at the rear as the gasses are cooler and doesn't affect flow but reduces noise.
After spending £600 on tyres I can't afford a Milltek etc but would like something better than this bung to quieten down the low rev note whilst still having a nice tone on full chat!
Your opinions please......

| I think you want to keep your eye out for either the prodrive or the Revs system as has been suggested. You should be able to flog your Japspeed system after the other is fitted to help offset the outlay. I was in a GB270 at the NBO which had the prodrive system fitted and it was quiet as a bloody mouse standing next to it on tickover, rather unscoobylike but sounds like what you need right now. | |
