OEM or Cometic head gaskets Empty
PostSubject: OEM or Cometic head gaskets   OEM or Cometic head gaskets EmptyTue 31 Jul - 15:33

I need some head gaskets to finish my build off.
With 1.6mm OEM gasket cr will be 8:6:1
With 1.67mm Cometic gasket cr will be 8:5:1
Both sets are the same price £117.80 form Mark @Importcarparts. But the OEM only go up to 1.6mm
Anyone have an opinion as to which gaskets i should go for.
Cheers
Mark.

i prefer the cometic, iv used them for years although the subaru ones are also of highest quality, the sealing ring on the cometics has a larger step in it and theres loads of choice for various thickness, a slight mod to casings is required for cometics but its easily done with a decent hand file

I'd perfer to use the 1.67 cometic gasket to bring the cr down to 8:5:1 apposed to 8:6:1 if i use the OEM 1.6mm gasket.
Any more info about the casing mod Andy ?.

just one side casing needs a couple mill filling back on one of the lugs, this is explained with diagram enclosed with the gaskets, its simple 5 min job
