PostSubject: radiator help (central heating)   radiator help (central heating) EmptySun 24 Mar - 14:40

A few months ago my bathroom radiator stopped working, after a bit research i was lead to beleave it was the thermo valve, bought & fitted a new one today, but still not grafting, blead loads through (2.5lts), the pipe upto the valve, the valve & bottom knuckle on the radiator are all red hot, but the raidator is still freezing, all the other ones in the house are fine, any ideas ?.

I am no plumber but sounds like you have a dodgey valve or something stopping the water getting through the radiator. Have you tried bleeding that particular radiator or slacken the valve on radiator side to see if it leaks water?
Like I said I am no plumber but would go down that route first before calling one out to charge you a vast amount of cash.

had the same problem with me kitchen rad.

tryed bleeding it and new valve but still didnt sort it until a spoke too me mate.

this worked for me=

turn every radiator off in the house except the one not working

then turn boiler onto permanent for 2 hours, and see if it gets hot ?

if it doesnt u have a blockage or a airlock.

in my case it was a airlock and it sorted itself out during the 2 hours on full on its own = wen a put other rads back on they all now the same Very Happy Very Happy

Could also need balancing. If its the last radiator in the loop, the previous ones may be taking all the heat. Try turning them all off then turn each one on in turn a little at a time until they all feel the same temp (alternatively fit the proper temp valves on each radiator)

Sumic like that anyway! (That's the problem that I had)
