| Subject: oil in inlet manifold ? Fri 29 Mar - 19:58 | |
| As per title i took the inlet off last week to be powder coated
just noticed today that the inlet looks to have a little oil inside the port, the one on the driver side closest to the bulkhead (number1) i think
is this normal or could it be cause for concern, the rest of the ports on the manifold look ok and clean
Any help appreciated

| Normal, the oil gets in to the manifold due to the engine breather system. | |

| A small film of oil will be ok, if it's dripping wet then you have issues. | |

| Sounds like it's ok then, it's only a small amount to be fair nothing excessive, just thought I beat check first, is it best to give it a clean before refitting or would you not recommend it | |

| Yeah i would clean it out, wont harm. I would personally use some brake cleaner or petrol and maybe a pipe cleaner to get into it abit better. | |

| That's what a catch can is for, it's normal and ok at lower powers but from what I've read, it can cause problems at higher powers | |

| Maybe worth just checking and cleaning the breathers to while your on. Wont harm any. | |

| Ah that makes more sense to me, I'll give the breathers a clean to before I re assemble what's the easiest way of cleaning them?
I think I'll invest on a catch can anyway, I know it's not nessacary but may aswell, plus it's getting mapped soon so should help a little

| Ideally a 3 port catach can but a cheap 2 port with breathers 'T' together will surfice. | |

your engine has 3 breathers, one on top ov each cylinder head and one from the bottomend (crankcase breather) so a 3 port catch tank can have each breather going straight too catch tank. where a 2 port one would require you too T , 2 ov the breathers together..
