Mario's 93 Legacy Empty
PostSubject: Mario's 93 Legacy   Mario's 93 Legacy EmptyFri 3 May - 21:13

This is my Legacy Turbo 4x4. she was in abit of a pore state when I picked her up but as with any 20 years old car it needs some work.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

first thing I set about doing was sort out the Boost piping, unfortinatly it wasn't the best, so as a result I set about and changed it.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The problem isn't obvious in this picture, but basically I had to change the piping where it comes off the turbo, I ditched the stock Black plastic pipe and replace it with a nice silicone based item that's straighter and larger diameter closer to the ridged pipe that's been used, I then set about fitting the dump valve and cone filter.

i'm thinking clean it up and restore it but not get it clean clean, want to keep it a little ratty, and aiming for around 300-350bhp, just so I have enough power to irritate some new cars lol.

the more I look at it and think about it the more I hate the colour so I a thinking it will get a respray and I am thinking go back to its original black.

Looks maybe a dark blue under the hood ?

It'll make a little sleeper that way, keep the towbar too for added spice.

well I set about today tidying up my engine bay a little, removed the disconnected AC pump so that's saved a couple of kilo's of weight, I then set about and removed the MBC (Manual Boost Controller) as I thought it wasn't doing anything, turns out it was just open fully and allowing max psi, turns out stock these only run 5psi and the turbo is only capable of 12psi, oh well we live and learn, tomorrows job, re-fit MBC and hopefully get it to hold 10psi

the more I think about it the more I fancy painting it black.

Well today I thought I would go buy a couple of treats for the leggy. problem is, the Blitz filter said it was for a Scooby (typical eBay item) but unfortinatly the MAF plate is wrong so I am going to have to make an adaptor plate grrrrr, at least the vac pipe was right, nice Forge Silicon Vac pipe.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

so couldn't fit the filter but I did fit the Vac pipes, what do you guys think, personally I prefer the darker red of the Forge pipes to some of these cheaper bright red ones.

well today was a PITA. decided to try and sort my steering vibration problem so i went and got a price for new disc's and pads for the front and then ordered as i was surprised when it was less than £50 for disc's and pads lol, 12 miles later i get that horrible metal on metal sound, hows that for timing. so tomorrow will be spent with my spanners in hand and the cooper grease freeing off stupid calipers and fitting new disc's and pads to the front.

i have decided i am going to spray the car satin black, i know this isnt every-ones taste but i like the idea, what i want an opinion on is weather or not to do a white, grey and black Union Jack on the roof????

well i set about doing the brakes at 10:30, only just finished now thanks to 1 stuck piston in the passenger side calipar, once i got it freed and i was cleaning it up i made the mistake of not slackening the bleed screw off and as i pushed it back in i pushed the other piston straight out and ended up with brake fluid everywhere lol. 1 scary brakeless drive later i had some more Dot4 and a quick bleed (and burnt hand) later and all is well again, no vibration and the caliper isnt sticking anymore so i am a well happy little mario.

oh and i swapped the passenger side headlight out for a one that wasnt broken, the original one had 2 broken mounting points out of 3 so was amazed it was even staying on lol.

Good crack, hope the £50 brakes hold up well,

Paint the car satin black, plain old paint job, no fancy union jacks I say.
