| Right, the anxiety in my head with these chocolate pistons is too much, especially after Mike and Andy Bish saying their bit too. I'm gonna sort out a loan and get Andy Kindon to do them for me. Reckon this would make the car more saleable too or do you think it's going to be ~£1500 I won't get back when I eventually move on and sell the car? Keep hearing opposing opinions on if I need a remap afterwards too? | |

| Talk to Andy Kindon. That's the only opinion you need and the only opinion that counts. |

Already on it pal, just PM'ed him Like Andy says, I guess as long as the prospective buyer knows what they're getting I can hold out for a reasonable price if I do ever sell.

| Do it, if only for your piece of mind while owning the car, get the head studs done at the same time, if you use standard compression pistons and the same size head gaskets then no need for a remap. When mine were removed they looked like this- | |

| Better ask Andy about the headstuds as not even sure what he does as part of the package, he said: - price to suppy and fit a set of high quality wossner forged pistons and ring kit, the price is the total price includes the latest STI steel headgaskets, new seals etc etc wrote:
Hope the price includes the headstuds too then as this is going to ruin me

How long were you running your standard pistons for though Jonny without any problems and you weren't running standard BHP, even when you changed them you didn't have an issue, you just changed them for piece of mind didn't you.

| Still it's good to know that your pistons aren't going to fail at any given moment..
Ask yourself this could you be doing with the inconvenience of your car needing an un planned engine rebuild ??
I know I couldn't
At least if it's all planned out to get the engine melt proof you can arrange another form of transportation if the Scooby is your only car.
If you can live with not having your Scooby on the road for a while unplanned then leave it as it is and worry about it when it happens, if it does and it probably will..
Last time I was up at AS Performance there was about 5 or 6 hatches parked about the place with their engines removed and in the boot. The 2.5 piston issue is real don't listen to the people who like to bury their heads in the sand.

| Mine looked a bit dodgy when they had been removed! so may have given in soon anyway. And like Nat says its the inconvenience, I didn't want it happening while i was away working and the missus was driving it with the kids in. I got it done while i was on leave and my mate was on holiday so i could use his car for the week, it saved me the hire car costs, recovery truck costs, and costs for any other damage that would of been caused if it let go. | |
