hi i had 2 different disc levels removed then titanium cage fusion with plates above and below cages and spinal canal wide, ing on november 9th 2011.just under 6 hours the op with blood transfusion..i was advised no driving for 8 to 10 weeks.i was released the next day from hospital and drove 2 days later due to the wife hitting every bump when driving lol..i still have pain but no where near as much..tbh its all depends how good your surgeon is as i had the spine trauma surgeon from rvi who,s the guy they use if things get tough and i went to northeast surgery centre but he also works at bupa dont know where you getting done at? but hope all goes well..devildame666

My surgeon is Mr Laksmanan, Were yours removed from high up in the neck area, mine is low down pretty much base of the spine L4 and can only imagine what it is gonna be like.
How long did you take off work, they have told me atleast 6 weeks.

c5-c6 c6-c7 and not sure how they widend my spinal canal lol...honest mate i was driving within 2 days but was dificult looking over right shoulder i have lost a bit of movement but dr says this is down to 2 different levels..i basic was back to work pottering about 3 to 4 weeks but i,m self employed gas fitter and the lad who works for me done most stuff lifting etc..i to have l4-l5 problem done the nerve block, traction hydro pool etc but its not compressing on cord just nerve and refused it until i,m fully recovered from cervical procedure...my other advise mate is go and buy some zinc tablets this speeds up your recovey and healing process at least a week before you go in...devildame

Might be a bit late for the Zinc tablets bud as i get the op in the morning pale Smile .

They told me a could'nt drive for a couple of weeks and should be lying down as much as possible for the same period. Hopefully will be the same as you regards recovery then can get back in the motor pretty soon.

Cheers Bud
