Help and advice needed Empty
PostSubject: Help and advice needed   Help and advice needed EmptySat 31 Mar - 9:15

Hi guys,

got a problem with the blob STI PPP lacking power. Shocked

Since the car conked out 2months ago showing "code P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)"

I got another one fitted off AndyG, I thought it had fixed the problem as it hasn't failed to start or clapped out since.

But there still feels like there's something not right as it will have a little flutter when ticking over as though its out of balance every now and again.

So I recently took up Jamie @evotune on his 35quid power run offer just to get a feeling of what its putting out.

Totally shocked to find its only outputting standard STI power, 265BHP!!! affraid (it has Prodrive cert so should be 301BHP)

See printouts below:

Could this be due to some other underlying problem and the ecu is limiting power? Question

Jamie says the fuelling looks fine but since the cam sensor problem started I feel like the car is eating even more juice than it used to? Mad.

When changing the cam position sensor we reset the ecu, would this put it back to standard or would it still retain the PPP flash?

Or has someone replaced the PPP with a standard one??? I have tried googling the ECU number but no joy.

How could I find out if there are any sensor problems or out that could be causing it to limit power? Is the only way to have it remapped?

Would running it on the RR with the DCCD in auto make any difference rather than fully open mode, wouldn't have thought so?

Sos for long post but any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance,

Steve.

Yer was wondering about the black felt tip marker. scratch

Got it from a local garage,

the lad who traded it in for an A4 had the plate ME53 STE on it, you may know this car as the last service was done by you mate on 21st feb 2011 (inc Timing Belt).

Any info would be welcome...

i wouldnt be to concerened about markings on ecu as lots come back from prodrive with writing on casing normaly model age and fitting dealership. you cant wipe the map from ecu by just clearing memory either so i wouldnt worry about that.. if you can read the check sum from the ecu or cid number that will confirm for you if its standard or ppp... have you noticed a drop in boost since previous fault...?

The lad who owned it works at my place. He didn 't remove the ECU from what i'm aware of.
