hi my gearbox is whining and been told its the main bearing and need a new one,the code is ty754vn1aa and i know that i need this exact coded one to match my rear diff but cant find one for sale,so does anyone know if i can use a differant gearbox with the matching rear diff or will there be more parts to swap over or would it be daft doing this or affect the performance, ifso does it cost much to get the box reconditioned and does anyone know of anyone cheers chris

The only problem with the lower ratio jap box's is your revs sit around 3500 rpm doing 70mph. so long motorway journeys do your head in more if you have a loud exhaust. Also you will loose some top end speed but that's not really a problem if your a law abiding citizen like myself..

They are a fun box made my car have more get up and go and if im honest still hit 130 which is ample lol. Yes mate with a gearbox and matchin diff its a straight swap i took s uk 2000 gearbox and diff from mine and fitted a jdm wrx box and diff. All i changed was the speedo drive as mines electronic. I used my exsiting prop and driveshafts .

They are a fun box I was considering getting a longer 5 th gear fitted to my Tommy Kaira then the engine blew up again. £250 for the box and diff is an excellent price and if your struggling to get them fitted cheap I know a guy just around the corner from you who will do it for next to nothing..

1 Don't know he is unemployed so wouldn't be a lot
2 Don't know if he has worked on subaru boxs before
3 Probably not a good idea come to think of it as he is a mental pikey nut job and is permanently stoned
