PostSubject: What Turbo??? +thanks :)   What Turbo??? +thanks :) EmptyFri 21 Sep - 18:13

Evening

A big thankyou to col at CR Automotive for supplying me the dump valve blanking plate, and for helping with a few problems, top bloke.

Anyway i always thought that my car had a TD series turbo, either 04 or 05,

But i got home and had a quick look under the bonnet and from what i can see i says 'IHI' embossed on the casing and on the serial number it seems or looks like it say "VF 27" ?

What turbo should come standard on a 1999 WRX Import, and i might be wrong but im sure the 27 was used mainly on legacy's, or am i wrong?

Any info would be much appreciated

Regards
James

Sorry people just looked with magnifying glass and it actually says VF29, would this be the right turbo?

Drew is correct, the early VF compressor wheels can't take the blow through when blanking the dump valve, the turbo that should be on a 99 wrx is a VF22, an sti of the same year should have a VF28 or VF29 fitted.

Just doubled checked again, and its defiantly got a VF29, also rechecked the VIN/model number and its definatly a WRX and not an STI of the same year, could it be possibly they changed it over as mine is one of the later models being a 99 or not?

Yeah steady away in bits at the moment with overhauling the cooling system but oither than that its going good, pop over sometime when you get the chance and you can have a look, car is round the back garden while im doing the work mind

I was going to post a wanted ad but i need a few more posts to do that, but im in need of a header tank if anyone knows or has one for sale
