PostSubject: Vibration at 90 - 95 mph   Vibration at 90 - 95 mph EmptyMon 8 Jul - 22:29

Just bought the car, I have been told that when im accelerating through 85, 90. 95 the vibrations i get are from the Jap limiter that's fitted. I also own a Landrover Defender & I got a similar rattle through the car which ended up being a prop shaft.

Any ideas?? Would the limiter start reducing performance before 120mph

do we know what/ or have any ideas where the vibration would come from. I thought it might be wheel balancing but it doesn't wobble through the wheel just can just feel it though the car itself??? This is going to drive me nuts be the look of it!!!

Try putting the back wheels on the front, that might tell you if it was the back wheels as it Will vibrate through the stearing i think

Does it happen when you go over 100mph?

Wheel balancing vibratiosn are around 50-60mph.

A prop shaft will vibrate a lot at the same speeds but can get a lot worse at that speed.

Check all balljoints and top mounts for play, check steering rack and ends for play and report back.

I have checked ball joints and steering rack ends (which seem OK). I havent had lots to do with these diff's (not that i can afford to pull out for 1 quite yet) So hoping its not that. I'm going to check the oil level in it tonight after work. the vibration is only during acceleration through 90mph then it stops again. it hasnt often been through that side of the clock. but every now n then it allow it to stray.Razz

Are your calipers sticking on slightly? If they are then you would get a vibration through the steering wheel at about 60-70 lol And also your wheel would be hot after a drive and covered in brake dust.
