Brake pad upgrade choice on STI Empty
PostSubject: Brake pad upgrade choice on STI   Brake pad upgrade choice on STI EmptyFri 14 Mar - 7:59

So my Sti is still on stock discs and pad which i believe are brembos (car has only covered 17k in its life so can only assume the the ones it rolled out of the factory on), and i feel as though the braking is a bit pants atm tbh, coming from a CTR with brembo discs and freodos 2500 all round which was made them a mint allrounder, i was thinking of upgrading the pads on the scoob to the same ds2500 and leaving the discs for the moment as i intend to take it on a few track days, but wanted to know who prefers what pad on their scoob/car and for why?

Pads i have tryed before in my classic scoob/differnt cars as follows
1) yellow stuff/red stuff pads....may aswell have put a block of rubber in the way they peal apart.
2)brembos....not bad but a bit meeeeh?
3)mintex....good bit squeak like a good'un

All helpful answers will be greatly recived Smile

Rob

DS2500 are a great pads choice, but are dusty as hell.
Pagids are cock on & very little dust , i have ran them for the last 10k on the 330s with no issues, & on the Foz sti for 40k again with no issues. Good price as well.

Rob

I agree with Mark. I had the Ferodo DS2500 pads on my car and they are a great pad but very dusty as Mark said. I also ran the Pagid pads and they are a cracking all round pad. The Pagid Blue RS4 are a track focused pad so great for track sessions. Not sure how they would drive as a daily driver though. I had the Pagid T1555 on my car as a daily driver.

We have Performance Fricition track pads in ours front and rear.

I always recommend matching front and rear pads where possible. Better driving feel from brakes.

1) Gary,  what do you recon to the ds2500's on a scoob?

2) StickT, i havnt heard of performance friction pads, what are they like, ie dusty, high working temp etc?

3) Mario, which did you prefer, ds2500 or the pagid T1 555's?

4) M/B, thanks for confirming not the rs4-2's, where would you recomend for the T1555's?
