PostSubject: Hawk WRX brake upgrade   Hawk WRX brake upgrade EmptySun 17 Feb - 11:36

Whats the most cost effective way to upgrade the brake system?

At the mo there's groved disc's and I think Red stuff pads but the brakes arn't all that great...

I'm gonna be going for 340bhp soon so the brakes will need to be upgraded....would uprating the pads to like yellowstuff be enough or is it gonna need a full new system put in?

Any advice? And what costs are involved?

To be honest ebc pads are shit wether they red yellow etc, a good performance pad will help but you prob better off upgrading to brembos front calipers & discs

Is that all i'd need to do? No need to change rears?

Whats the likely cost of that?

If you have the money i'd go for these large 6pot tarox brakes with recent new groove and drilled disc black stuff pads £600 Wink

Cheers,

And they would just go straight onto a 2.5 WRX with 17" wheels?

They don't fit under the standard WRX wheels unfortunately

Thanks again for the advice,

The brembo's...How much of an improvement is this? Enough to justify the upgrade and £500??

Edit: Embarassed Just noticed the 'I've done this and its a huge improvement' post lol Your running higher BHP that what I will be.

Would you say the brakes are sufficient Jonny? Or would you say really they need further improvement to be satisfactory??

Another thing...If i was to buy the brembo's, how much could i expect to sell my 4pots for with groved discs and half worn pads?

Cheers, Dean

LOL, i ask so many friggin questions!

Yeah I would say the brembo's are up to the job in standard form, I have standard discs with a set of Drew's Pagid pads and they work very well.

I sold my standard 4 pots and grooved discs for £120 to Trev, think he got a bargain.
