I have a legacy gt-b (1994) and I've recently experienced a whining sound sometimes when drinving, it has a auto box and this isn't affected in any way whilst driving. I'm aware that my rear pads need changing but haven't put the noise down to this... any ideas???

Is the noise coming from the rear? If so then you could need a new wheel bearing. These are normally quite weak on Subaru's, especially at the rear. I've had mine changed on a few cars now.

I was waiting for the wife gag lol If it's the bearing then it gets noticeable at about 30mph and gets louder as you drive. It also sounds a bit like a washing machine drum going round. If it's left for too long then you might knacker the hub as well because that's what happened to my first scoob.

Oh ok.. I will get it looked at soon. Didn't know if it may have been the brake pads on rear!

Oh thats not good. I've just checked my rear pads and the outer nsr pad is down to the metal so I believe it to have been the pad rubbing against the disk.. strange how only the one pad has worn more than the rest.

I've removed the calipers and the sliding bolt on both sides has seized/snapped! Does anyone know where to get just these bolts from? I believe they are M8x1 with 14mm head. Help??
