Subject: transmission oil for forester Sun 5 Dec - 12:40
help ,where does the transmission oil go in a 1998/02 forester.looked everywhere ,cant find the little bugger .it says in the book it takes 4 litres ,so it must be git hole .it wouldnt be the engine oil would it ..because that also takes 4 litres .by the way its amanual .anyone know ...bound tu..thanks ruffusbarry

It goes in where your gearbox dip stick is, below and to the left of your intercooler. It should be yellow.
ITS DEFINATELY NOT YOUR ENGINE OIL!! LOL
It takes 75w90 Transmission fluid.

chris@eclipse,thanks for your reply ,forgot to mention it isnt a turbo ,so no intercooler .any more advice would be helpfull ,thanks rufusbarry.

Ok, Im not so clued up with non turbo forresters but its probably in the same place. If you stand in the middle at the front of your engine bay it will be towards the back and to the left slightly. You should see the dip stick down there.

lol , looked again but cant find ,phoned chapmans of pickering they said it should be where you said ,and when tou top it up the oil has to go down a tube ,bloody hell ????anymore advice lol kind regards ,,rufusbarry.
