A new engine... Empty
PostSubject: A new engine...   A new engine... EmptySat 19 Mar - 11:50

For anyone who's seen the project thread, you will already know my scooby is in need of a replacement engine...

WELL..

I've found 2

One is in a forester and has an identical set-up to mine same inlet / coil location, front entry turbo etc... BUT it has an A/C pump on (mine doesn't)

The there is a 1995 WRX engine, with a 90' turbo inlet / different inlet manifold etc... Compared to mine..

As both engines will come complete, can I use the forester engine and just remove the A/C ? OR should I opt for the Impreza engine and put my inlet & turbo etc on ?

There both identically priced so any help appreciated Smile

Simon

Hi Simon,
The Forester engine would be better for your MY97 as if you use the Impreza 95 engine you will have to do so much more work.

Just unbolt the A/C pump and remove the separate belt and secure the wires - and it is as easy as that.

Is the Forester engine from a UK Forester or an Import one?
It's just that the UK Forester had 177hp as standard and the Import Forester had 220+hp as standard due to having the WRX cams, TD04 etc. Better to start with the Import Forester engine.

One here in Carlisle:

I am sure Muzz said that he can pallet deliver an engine for £65 but don't quote me - best check with Muzz.
