Changing belts etc Empty
PostSubject: Changing belts etc   Changing belts etc EmptyTue 17 Jan - 8:47

Ive just read mr greers informative post on changing belts etc and it got me to thinking that mine have probably not been changed in a long while, if ever (AK correct me if I'm wrong)

Is there any way of checking their condition for cracking etc, without removing them altogether ??

That should of course read, is there any way that I could check them, after someone tells me where they are Laughing

KGT.

It will take all of around 5 minutes to remove it mate, remove it and bend it back on its self. or look close at them see if you can see them cracking Smile

How much are the new ones ?
Part numbers etc ?

I'm assuming they are Gates belts or someone similar, Ive seen them being made at their factory. I might just replace anyway to be ont he ultra safe side.

Ive just had a look on Marks site and I can buy just the one you mentioned or a two pack which is only £13 and include a belt for Power Steering / Alternator and another for Air Con.

http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/parts.asp?cat=96&sub=183&sec=277&var=23&dc=y

Presuming they are both rubber and both prone to similar fatigue, it would seem prudent to check and replace both, now youve slightly frightened me Laughing - yes or no ?

And will the 2nd one be as easy as you say the 1st one is ?
