Oil smoke problem Empty
PostSubject: Oil smoke problem   Oil smoke problem EmptyWed 11 Jun - 16:14

Now then people got a problem

Developed a mis fire on cyclinder 4 so for a coil from subatu snd it cured it but noticed putting a little bit of oil out of the exhaust so took turbo off and seals had gone so got jonny to rebuild it and wen i got it back cleaned the boost pipes and swilled the intercooler out as a bit of oil were in it, any way put it all back together and when driving fine but when slowing down and setting back off it smokes oily smoke out of the exhaust and i cnt think of what could be causing it if too much pressure build up or how to cure it any help would be very helpfull cheers

What colour is the smoke?
Could be residue oil left in intercooler but worst case is the piston rings mate.
Get someone to have a good look.

Pressure test mate. That will be worse case scenario mate. Is it using oil? Loss of power? Drinking more fuel than normal?

If they don't get to the bottom of it I would take it to mr kindon, it will save you a lot of money in the long run.

When I stripped your turbo I found some scaring on the rear of the shaft around the seal and bearing area, the rear bearing had some wear in it and it also had burnt on oil on the center of the shaft, I managed to remove it and polished out most of the scaring, changed the rear bearing and replaced the front and rear seals.

The area around the seal wasn't perfect but I would have expected it to seal ok.

If it hasn't sealed I would recommend a replacement core for it.
