Were the plugs wet when he took them out? They can be difficult to start once they get flooded. Might be worth doing a compression test.

It would have to be a pretty major head gasket leak if its gonna stop it starting. And if your loosing water but theres no leaks then you would expect to see steam from the exhaust.

How old are the plugs? Crank shaft sensor would cause it but they usually just fail.

There's a few things it could be to be honest, some more likely than others.... Are you only getting the problem when the cars been stood for a while or could it happen any time? Maybe it's not getting/holding fuel pressure? Is the pump priming ok when you turn the ignition on? Is it loud?

If you've got an injector problem thats causing it to flood then you would expect to have running issues when it's driving and maybe black smoke from the exhaust?

It might just have been the last time you turned it off (Thursday) it flooded itself. Was it idling for a while before you switched it off? I know with my red car I need to give a good blip on the throttle before I switch it off to clear the plugs otherwise the same can happen with that!
