My mate has recently bought a new shape Audi TT, when I asked why he had bought a TT he told me he had bought it because he had always wanted a sports car, my reply was I wouldn't classify the TT as a sports car, as my definition of a sports car is something with 2 seats and rear wheel drive, was just wondering if other people on here would class the TT as a sports car and also what your definition of a sports car would be. cheers

Iconic design........but not a sports car by any stretch of the imagination. I'll admit I nearly got one to replace my 2.8L BM, but once I'd driven the TT for 10 mins, I gave my head a shake, bought the red Blob and kept it for 7 yrs. Nuff said.

I would class an Audi TT as a ponces car not a sports car. To me a sports car is something more lotus like.

Well the voting looks pretty conclusive as I thought it would be, with only 1 vote for yes so far (that vote can be discounted though as the person has recently had a bump to the head and may still be delusional lol! )

I will admit that the TT is a nice car to look at and is nice inside but is usually driven by hairdresser's (where's hardy when you need him Very Happy ) but is definitely not a sports car.

I would also agree that true sports cars are the likes of Lotus and Tvr etc.

Wonder what response a vote would get if it was on an Audi forum Very Happy

It's just the 2litre base model that he has bought so hasn't even got much power at 200bhp

Is the 2ltr a base model? thought there was a 1.8T under that model? And don't Audi advertise it as a sports car on their site? Question Question Question Question

His car is a 2006 model so the 2litre was the base model for that year as they didn't start making the 1.8 till a couple of years later, yes Audi do sell it as a sports car but they would so they can sell more, the TT had won this years Whatcar coupe of the year for 2013 so it's a coupe not a sports car

See what you mean but I don't think the drive train being front or rear makes a difference,
because you could argue if it has 4 wheel drive it would be a land rover Wink
