Had one before the Z, can positively tell you, that in no way, shape or form is the TT a sports car, utter, utter pile of steaming dog turd. Sorry if that offends anyone, but both you and I know it's true.

ETA mine was the "hardcore" Quattro Sport version too, so closest that a TT would ever come, still a miss by a light year.

Can't think of another so called sports car that is fwd though, to me a true sports car is Rwd with 2 seats.

I think we'd all agree that they are certainly no land rover and one should not attempt to offroad in them despite the 4WD offering Laughing

His car is a 2006 model so the 2litre was the base model for that year as they didn't start making the 1.8 till a couple of years later, yes Audi do sell it as a sports car but they would so they can sell more, the TT had won this years Whatcar coupe of the year for 2013 so it's a coupe not a sports car

From 99-2006 Audi TT were built with engine capacitys of 1.8 Turbo & 3.2 V6
From 2006 they were available in 1.8Turbo, 2ltr turbo (inc diesel) & 3.2 V6

I'm sure the 1.8 turbo only appeared in the new shape TT in 2009 before that they only did the 2litre turbo in the new shape.

The original shape had two versions of the 1.8 20valve turbo engine - 180 BHP and 225BHP. Same engine was used in the Seat Leon Cupra and Cupra R at one time (around about 2004/2005 when I had mine).

Dunno if you'd class the TT as a sports car or not, but it's deffo not a 'performance car'. My Lass had the 225BHP version and was always banging on about how fast it was. Took her out in the scoob and she was flapping like fook, started crying and tried to get out at full tilt Laughing Laughing
