What torque (NM) should aftermarket alloys be tightened up to? Using steel nuts.
Subaru specify 78-98 NM for OEM wheels but not sure if it'll be the same for all alloys.
Cheers

I do mine to 100Nm with alloy nuts. Been fine all the time I've had alloys.

Cheers Phil, thats what I've done them to.
When I took the nuts off that the alloys were fitted with they were tight as anything. Stopped trying to find out what they were at 130NM but suspect it must of been about 150NM which I wasn't best pleased about, from a supposed reputable expert fitting place

Most places just windy gun the fookers on. Wrong IMO like. Subaru's recommendation is spot on too but I always like to give it that little bit extra.

Ouch ---- 130nm-150nm - Very close to stretching or stripping threads. So how are you supposed to slacken them at the side of a road with the standard Subaru tyre iron ?????????????
Also does their warranty cover the wheel coating if the nuts have been tightened so much as to crack the paint/powder coat?

Exactly mate.
When they were getting fitted one of the lads in the shop was having a 'discussion' on the phone with a customer who's wheel was damaged. Spigot ring was goosed from what I could overhear, and he was adimant it must have been caused using a windy gun so the customer was at fault and no come back for the shop or manufacturer. No mention of alloys being fitted by the hulk in their workshop though

i work for a manufacturer that specifies 140nm as the correct torque for there wheels and you get the same dinky wheel brace with that car as you do with all cars.
Never actually tried removing the wheel with one though
