OK so the refurbd calipers came back and got slotted on the car no problem.
We then bled the system and proceeded out on a test drive. Twas immediately obvious we had a problem.
On first press the brake pedal travels almost all the way to the floor, but on the 2nd press there is pressure there and almost a solid pedal.
Any ideas ?

Air in the system somewhere Keith. You'll need to bleed them again.

The car is now with a local garage. Ive suggested they either fix it or park it outside the garage with the keys in and leave it over night.

Got the car back........no better. I'm off to China this weekend and the motor will be holidaying at Kindon Towers whilst I'm away.
Thanks for the offer Colmoo and also thanks to Hardy172 - its nice to know there are people you can rely on when you are in a jam.
Fingers crossed that I survive a fortnight of ducks tongue, chickens feet, catfish eyes and bulls penis soup (yes I really did have this last time I was on business out there)
